Hot Achille LED
Hommage to Achille Castiglioni
Ingo Maurer and Team
Hot Achille LED can be used as a wall or standing lamp. The unconventional idea of affixing the light source to a vertically hanging cable, however, gives it an entirely different expression.
The coaxial cable is affixed to the ceiling. The reflector with the light source is height-adjustable and rotates within a range of approx. 100 cm. A weight ensures the cable remains sufficiently taut, and the power is provided from below, so a ceiling outlet is not required. The curved holder of the lamp head creates a graphically outwardly appealing image and at the same time ensures the necessary friction that fixes the reflector and light source to the cable, but enables them to move too. With Hot Achille, Ingo Maurer picked up on the idea of Achille Castiglioni’s design “Parentesi” and implemented it in a new way using low-voltage halogen technology in 1994 - and LED in 2019. Hot Achille LED works best when placed against a wall.
